Turmeric-Ginger Iced Elixir
As the months get warmer, and as we get closer to summer, I find myself reaching for cold lemon water more and more. But plain old lemon water is a thing of the past! Step up your lemon-water game with THIS amazinggggg combo! Not only is it delicious, it is full of vitamins, anti-inflammatory properties, boosts your metabolism and so much more! Plus, all you need is a blender and you're good to go! Please note: I don't drink this mixture all at once. Typically I store it in a Mason jar and add a little bit of it to a large glass of water. Think of it as tea, which you will be diluting with water a bit. It also helps it last longer!
Ingredients:
- 1 "thumb" (1/4-1/2 tsp) raw turmeric root
- 1 thumb raw ginger root
- 1/2 lemon (organic)
- 1/2 Filtered water
- Ice
- Black pepper (to help absorption of turmeric)
Prep:
This "prep" really couldn't be easier. Simply use a vegetable peeler to remove the outer skin of your ginger and turmeric pieces (carefully). Place the ginger and turmeric pieces in a blender with the water and blend for a minute. Pour 1-2 tbsp of the mixture into a glass of filtered iced lemon water. Enjoy.
