Nursery Inspiration

Nursery Inspiration

I have always dreamt of designing a nursery, long before getting pregnant actually! I absolutely adore interior design and decor, so having any excuse to add new home items always makes me happy. We’re in the fairly early stages of our nursery process, but I definitely have been heavily Pinteresting and trying to determine the direction in which we want to go. I’ve ordered a few items, but as there are so many shipping delays these days, I am trying to make my decisions quickly so his room will be mostly ready prior to his arrival (although, he will be sleeping in our room the first few months).

For this room, I want it to feel serene, yet not too nursery cliche. Meaning, choosing fabrics for curtains and accents that don’t necessarily scream “BABY BOY!”. With many of my home purchases in general, I buy things that can be used in a multitude of rooms, or last us for years. I am leaning towards accent fabrics (for the curtains and other decor pieces) that are not your typical shade of baby blue. Soft sagey greens work in a a variety of rooms, and will be used in our home for years to come.

I’ll link to/add photos of nursery items I’ve already ordered or purchased (plus some items we already owned!). I am so excited to see how this nursery looks when all is said and done!

The image above on the right actually features the crib we ordered for our nursery, which was super helpful to see, since I haven’t seen it in person. I am also completely inspired by the nursery on the left (via Elisabeth & Butter), because it doesn’t look like your typical boy nursery and could be great for a boy or girl (in my opinion!). Very into these vibes!

I’ve registered for the scalloped nesting baskets above (left), which have become very popular in a lot of nurseries. I just think they are too cute to pass up!

In terms of items we have already ordered, I’ve placed the order for our custom glider, which isn’t set to arrive until MARCH 2022! Aka, when Baby H is also supposed to arrive! Production and shipping delays have been a common issue we’ve run into lately, but hoping most of the nursery will be complete by the time baby gets here. I ordered a swivel glide chair in a performance cream-colored fabric, which will be great for everyday wear and tear. The crib has also been ordered, and should arrive in a few weeks!

We swapped my old dresser (in the cover image of this post) for one I found on Facebook Marketplace over the summer, and my old dresser will function as his changing table/dresser. I purchased this changer to go on top of the dresser. Also still making final decisions in terms of fabric for curtains and accents, but I am looking forward to working with Erika M Powell Textiles on that portion of his room. We also still need to find a cute mirror for his room, and some additional art for his walls. EEEK! It’s all such a dream!

I can’t wait to keep you posted and updated as we continue to build this sweet nursery. I am SO excited to finally begin this process, and think it will be my favorite room in the house!
