Upping my Relaxation Game with Sensate
This post is part of a paid collaboration with Sensate. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you Sensate for collaborating on this post!
Hi friends, how is everyone feeling? During these stressful and uncertain times, I’ve been focusing more on my mental health than anything. It is easy to get overwhelmed, and I certainly have been feeling the stress of everything in the world lately. Because of this, my sleep has suffered, my skin has been acting up, and in general, I am not feeling 100%. A couple weeks ago Sensate reached out to me asking if I would like to try their vagus-nerve toning product. I am always fascinated by health-focused technology products, especially those that are as easy to use as the Sensate!
So what is the Sensate you might ask? Great question! Sensate is a unique, non-invasive product designed to tone the vagus nerve. Prior to using Sensate, I didn’t know much about the vagus nerve, nor did I know anything about its functions or role in the body. The vagus nerve is the long nerve that connects the brain to the gut and other organs like the heart and lungs, and belongs to the part of the nervous system that is responsible for calming the body after periods of stress and anxiety. The Sensate device has been tested in a clinic. The device can be used for a recommended period of 10-30 minutes at a time, and can be used more than once a day; always with the free Sensate app soundtrack library being listened to through headphones for maximum relaxation and to get the full experience. I’ve been playing the “Be Sensate” track every night for 10 minutes right before bed. I can sincerely say it has made a huge difference in my evening routine, and has helped me become relaxed and fall asleep very quickly.
The Sensate campaign launched on May 5th, and the devices will be shipping between June and July! The Sensate experience works through three elements: the Sensate soundscape library, the device itself, and you! I love the wide array of sounds that the soundscape library offers, and I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to find a relaxing sound for you to enjoy. What’s also so cool about Sensate is that the device works with near-infrasonic vibrations that vibrate on your chest along with the sounds. I found this feature to be quite relaxing. According to the Sensate website, the resonating hum of the device works on your vagus nerve through the science of bone conduction. Your chest carries the musical vibrations of the Sensate, a little bit like the gentle bass of a low speaker, into your body to soothe and calm you.
