Charleston Restaurant Roundup (October 2023)

Charleston Restaurant Roundup (October 2023)

Wow oh wow, has it been a minute since I’ve contributed to this portion of the blog (or any portion for that matter). Considering the last “travel” post was from our babymoon in December 2021, we are definitely overdue for a travel post ! If you’ve been here for awhile, you might remember Yale and I took our “minimoon” after our wedding to Charleston and Kiawah (more on that here). When it came time to plan our 5-year anniversary trip, we both agreed we had unfinished business in Charleston and were eager to visit again.

This post is going to specifically cover restaurants and food from our trip. We stayed at the LOVELY 86 Cannon which I HIGHLY recommend if you’re visiting Charleston in the near future. We absolutely adored the Inn and I covered a bit more on that here on Instagram. Should I do a separate blog post on the hotel? Let me know!

One of the servers from our trip said that restaurants are Charleston’s personality, and I completely agree. It is foodie heaven! There are so many incredible restaurants to choose from, I know we’ll go back again soon just to cross more spots off our LONG list. In the meantime, here is where we went (and continue reading below to see the full list!). Also, the fact that we’re jumping right to lunch below is because we ate breakfast at 86 Cannon each morning! We did visit Babas for coffee on Cannon Street which was adorable!

Lunch - We’re sandwich people…don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Sorelle Mercato: Great sandwiches and salads!! We dined in! The market is attached to the Sorelle restaurant. I got the chicken sandwich, and Yale had the Italian Hero.

The Co-Op (Sullivans Island): We did an afternoon trip to Sullivans and we had fun grabbing sandwiches and Froze from the Co-Op. There are other locations (opening one across from 86 Cannon!). The Froze is a sweet boozy treat, but a must! Yale and I split the California Turkey and Cowboy Chicken sandwiches with chips.

The Pass: These sammys were soooo good- my favorite for sure! The Pass was right around the corner from the hotel which was super convenient. They also had wine on tap! Sign me up! Yale and I split the Italian Girl and the Basanagol. And chips. Duh.

Dinner

Chasing Sage: A quick walk from 86 Cannon, Yale and I both agree our meal at Chasing Sage was out of this world. Their menu changes frequently, but it everything we had was incredible. Our favorite meal of the trip…and we ate a TON of great food! So good.

Southbound: LOOOVED the atmosphere at Southbound. The restaurant is based around “live fire cooking”, meaning the meals are slower, which we prefer. We sat on the porch and it was perfection (especially since the fire made the first floor toasty inside!). Everything was delicious.

Malagon: A charming Spanish tapas style restaurant. It is small inside, but there is a little patio around the side of the building. We sat at the bar and loved chatting with our server. Great drinks and delicious food!

Post House (Old Village, Mt. Pleasant): Absolutely adored our anniversary dinner at Post House. We actually got super lucky because we didn’t have a reservation and they had one table outside left, which we were able to grab. The food was great, and we loved the vibe of the space!
