What's In My Hospital Bag

What's In My Hospital Bag

*This post is part of a paid collaboration with Lo & Sons

Happy Valentine’s Day! So excited to finally be sharing this blog post, because it means we’re really in the home stretch of pregnancy! This post is sponsored by Lo & Sons, a company whose products I have used and loved for years. I was first introduced to Lo & Sons via their Hanover Deluxe backpack, which is my go-to travel bag. Since then, I have added a few more Lo & Sons bags to my collection, including the amazing Catalina Deluxe Tote, which is going to act as my hospital bag during our upcoming stay.

I love the Catalina Deluxe Tote because it is small, but fits SO much stuff! There is a bottom compartment that can be left open or closed from the inside which I love for travel. I love that all of the Lo & Sons bags are great for organization, and have tons of hidden pockets and compartments to store your items. See this reel to get a better look at the bag on my Instagram! I am hoping all of the items below (besides our pillows/blankets/towels) will fit inside of my Lo & Sons bag!

I am trying to take the less is more approach with my hospital bag, since I tend to be a notorious over-packer. At the end of the day, we don’t need that much while in the hospital, I am just trying to pack as many items as I can to make us more comfortable during our stay. Below is a list of the items I am packing for myself and baby. Yale will pack his own bag, but it’ll mostly be comfy clothes and his toiletries. We’re so excited to meet our baby boy, and begin this fun new chapter in our lives!

For Mama:

Clothes/Comfort:

Comfy Pajamas: I packed 2 different comfy pajamas for myself after my delivery. I am not packing my beloved Lake Pajamas, but rather went for navy, super soft PJs from Amazon that I’d be OK with disposing of if necessary. I ordered this night shirt and this PJ set both in a size Medium.

Nursing/Pumping Bras: I’ve found it difficult to find nursing bras I like that aren’t too huge or uncomfortable. For now, I am going with this Kindred Bravely super soft nursing bra (I ordered 2), and this Hatch pumping bra. I also think this bra from Skims (my favorite bra of all time, I have several!) will be a good sleeping/nursing bra since it provides easy access. Will give it a whirl and report back. I have also stocked up on these disposable nursing pads.

Cozy Socks & Slippers: Everyone says pack cozy fluffy socks, since hospitals are cold, so I bought this 2 pack of socks on Amazon. I am also packing a pair of my old Ugg slippers.

Shower Shoes: Hospital showers kinda gross me out (understandably so), so I purchased rubber flip flops for Yale and I to each wear in the shower. Hers & His shower shoes!

Comfy Sweatpants and Sweater: For my going-home outfit, I am packing these super comfy joggers and this oversized sweater, both in black. Comfort seems to be key! If I were giving birth in the summer I would’ve packed an oversized dress, but seeing as there’s snow on the ground, we will be dressing warmly!

Robe, Eye Mask, Pillows & Blanket: I want to feel as comfortable in the hospital as I possibly can, so I am packing a super old, navy Barefoot dreams robe to wear while in the hospital. I wouldn’t have packed this item if it weren’t navy or over 6 years old. I’m also packing extra pillows from home, an old barefoot dreams blanket for either me or Yale to use, and this eye mask for myself.

Bath Sheets: I ordered 2 huge bath sheets from Amazon (in navy) for Yale and I to use in the hospital, but for me to also use during my postpartum recovery. All of our towels are white, so I didn’t want to potentially ruin them and opted for these while I am in recovery.

Postpartum Care Items: I anticipate the hospital will provide most of the postpartum essentials, but I am packing a few items from home like this Frida Mom peri bottle, and these adult diapers. Sexy times over here!

Toiletries/Snacks: This is a no-brainer. I am packing all of my normal toiletries and snacks to have in the hospital. Definitely can’t forget these items!

Tech:

Noise Machine: I’ve packed my two favorite noise machines to have in the hospital. I can’t sleep without one so this is a must for me. I love the Yogasleep Dohm and have also packed the Hushh portable machine for babe.

Mini Fan: Several people suggested packing a mini fan for labor, so that’s what I’ve done!

Instant Film Camera: Thought this instant film camera would be something fun to have in the hospital. Who knows if we will use it but I figured why not pack it!

Long Cord Phone Chargers: Another thing so many people recommended I pack were long cord phone chargers. I ordered these that are 10 feet long! Hopefully they suffice!

Charging Dock/Station: I quickly realized that many of the things I was packing required a USB charging cube, of which I don’t have ton’s of extras. I ordered this charging dock/station for all of those items. Random!

For Baby:

Carseat: This is probably the most important baby item, since he cannot leave the hospital without it! Our infant carseat is actually currently backordered, but luckily we have our Doona Stroller, which doubles as an infant carseat! He will be coming home in this!

Outfits: I am packing a few different outfits for baby H. I’ll be packing his “announcement outfit” which is just a cute onesie monogrammed by Cotton Honey Monograms with his name!!! I am also packing a few onesies in different sizes, since we aren’t quite sure how big he will be at birth. It was suggested I pack a few outfits in the newborn size, as well as 0-3 month size! This boy will have plenty of options!

Swaddles: I have packed 2 different muslin swaddles as well as a velcro SwaddleMe swaddle.

Pacifiers: Our sleep consultant Meg from A Restful Night recommended we pack pacifiers for baby, since not all hospitals provide them. I’ve packed two options for him, and we will see if he needs it.

Baby Dopp Kit: This is wildly unnecessary, but I couldn’t help myself! I ordered this adorable seersucker dopp kit for baby with his name monogrammed on it. I figured I could put any items in here that the hospital gives us for him, and then also use it for him for future travel. I ordered the navy and had his name written with red thread.
