HEALING : My Word for 2020

HEALING : My Word for 2020

Healing is my official word for 2020. I am not big on New Years resolutions, but in 2020 I hope to move the needle on my healing path.

The past 2-2 1/2 years have been difficult, health-wise. Externally, I think I look pretty normal, but the issue with “invisible illness” is the fact that they’re that, invisible. I’ve had a number of people tell me “You look so healthy!”, which I take as a compliment, however, most days I do not feel as healthy as I look.

Earlier this year I was able to determine that I have bartonella, an infectious disease caused by a vector (carrier) that transmits the disease. The disease can be transmitted by ticks, mosquitos, fleas, etc. I’ll never know specifically how I got bartonella. I never saw a tick bite (most people don’t), and am like candy to mosquitos, so there are many factors at play.

I went through a year and a half (and MANY doctors opinions) of feeling like absolute crap before coming to the diagnosis from my current Lyme-Literate MD. My bartonella numbers were OFF THE CHARTS, which explained my feeling awful. With bartonella, I experience frequent muscle and joint pain, sudden-onset flu-like symptoms, sore throats, vertigo, migraines, swollen lymph nodes and more. Not coming to a conclusive diagnosis for over a year took me for a ride mentally. While the journey to health is LONG for bartonella, I am confident in my team that I am moving in the right direction.

Similarly, in the past year I tested positive for candida and yeast overgrowth in my gut. I’ll be sharing much more about how I discovered the candida, and what symptoms I had in upcoming blog posts to come. That being said, I have a plan in place to heal the candida starting January 1st…more on that to come as well.

Why is my word for 2020 “healing”, you may ask? Well, I am determined to make positive progress in my health in the New Year. I have felt pretty awful for over 2 years, which has been difficult, mentally, emotionally and physically. I am so ready to feel better that I am ready to do whatever it takes! Stay tuned for many more updates to come as we get rolling in the New Year. I am so excited to take you on this journey with me!

xx
